While both are carbon steel pipes, ASTM A53 is used for general-purpose air, water, and steam lines at low to medium pressures. In contrast, ASTM A106 is specifically designed for high-temperature and high-pressure service.
A53 can be welded or seamless, while A106 is strictly a seamless pipe.
