What is ERW pipe?
ERW steel pipe is manufactured through low or high-frequency resistances Electric Resistance. The welding seam is longitudinal. During the ERW pipeline welding process, heat is generated when current flows through the contact surface of the welding area. It heats the two edges of the steel to the point where one edge can form a bond. At the same time, under the action of the combined pressure, the edges of the tube blank melt and squeeze together. The ERW welding process refers to the heat generated by the resistance of the current flowing through the connecting metal. Therefore, a large current is required to charge the entire surface of the steel plate or coil to the welding length. During ERW welding, the current flowing through the entire conductor is 50/60 Hz. Generally, the maximum outer diameter of ERW pipe is 24 inches (609 mm), and for larger size pipes, SAW will be used.
Usually ERW pipe maximum OD is 24” (609mm), for larger dimensions pipe will be manufactured in SAW.
